Lesson 2: Rules of Netiquette

Lesson 2: Rules of Netiquette

I never heard the word "netiquette" and I've only come to know it when my subject teacher shared what it means. Netiquette has something to do with the safety and security of online platforms. Since I know that Internet is a very powerful tool and it can almost do everything like communicating with others, online banking transactions and even shopping through online, it can also be the cause of being in danger. Aside from it's pros of being helpful and works a lot faster than actually doing it, one wrong move can actually ruin a person's name and reputation. Putting your first name and last name in the social medias maybe risky, but putting other personal information like your birthday and cellphone number can be at higher risk. Online users must always be aware of what they post and share online like the quote "Think Before You Click" says, we should think clearly and deeply what can happen or the consequences after we post or share something online.
In today's society, numerous Internet threats are spreading globally and people should be aware of it. First on the list is the malware, or malicious software; it is any program or file that is harmful to a computer user and includes computer viruses, worms, Trojan, spyware and adware. Second is the Spam, it is unwanted email mostly from bots or advertisers that can be used to send malware. The last one is Phishing which acquires the private informations like passwords and credit card details.
When we create something, either it is a form of literacy work, an idea or a research, we have the exclusive rights to reproduce, publish, and grant permission for others to use the work, among other things. To know copyright infringement is a must so that any person would not violate the copyright law. In this lesson, I have learned so much from safety and security of the Internet up to the the useful tips when conducting online research.
