Lesson 1: Introduction to Information and Communication Technology

Lesson 1: Introduction to Information and Communication Technology

Since Lesson 1 is all about the introduction of Information and Communication Technology, it really caught my attention and I'm greatly interested in it. My knowledge about Information and Communication Technology deepens as it affect my every day life as a student  especially now in my generation which technology is efficiently used around the world. Information and Communication Technology deals with anything that uses different communication technologies such as mobile phones, Internet, computer, telephone and a lot more to save, communicate, send and receive information. I got to know that Tim Berners-Lee was the one who created the World Wide Web and there are three stages of it. Web 1.0 was the first and the "static" (which means stationary page) in the sense that it is "as is" and cannot be edited or manipulatedIn Web 2.0, applications are also more likely to be open source, providing users with a greater ability to influence the web. This actually includes many social networking sites, hosted services, web application and blogs. It also allows the users to interact with the page which they can comment or create an account.
My subject teacher shared the features of Web 2.0 and those are Folksonomy (which allows users to categorize and classify/arrange information using freely chosen keywords), Rich User Experience, Long Tail, User Participation (which others are able to place a content of their own by means of comment, reviews, and evaluation), Software as a Service, and lastly, Mass Participation. For the Web 3.0, it aims to have machines (or servers) perceive the user’s preferences to be able to deliver web content specifically targeting the user. Furthermore, my understanding about the trends in Information and Communication Technology, types of social medias, and kinds of operating systems widened.
